Erectile dysfunction medicines seized in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large quantities of unlicensed medicines have been seized by Department of Health authorities during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A man was spoken with by department officers about illegally importing and consequently providing unlicensed impotence medications through the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offenses.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was carried out by the department’s Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: “It is essential that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be hazardous.

“These kinds of products being sold, normally online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no about their security.

“You just do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More importantly, you do not understand the effect drugs like this might have on your health.”
